16th Annual IFOND Golf Outing

We are pleased to announce the 16th Annual IFOND Golf Outing.

As IFOND enters its 16th year, the funds raised at this Golf Outing have helped sponsor 10 Scientific Field Investigations to study the causes and potential treatment of Leber’s Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON). The results of these studies have the potential to help the many thousands who have been stricken with various diseases of the Optic Nerve.

Most of the world’s literature published on LHON over the past 10 years has been written by the cadre
of scientists connected to these IFOND supported field investigations. A “novel therapy” that has the potential to minimize or even halt vision loss in LHON is now undergoing “safety trials” here in the USA. The early results of the emergency use of this agent are encouraging and the trial will be expanded this year in Brazil after having received the necessary approvals from the Brazilian agencies.

Your generosity serves to directly support these cutting edge scientific studies. IFOND is a volunteer foundation and as such accrues no costs related to salaries and the proceeds of our fundraising efforts go directly to support the study of Optic Nerve Disease.

Following is an outline of this year’s event and a description of the many ways you can help. Whatever your choice, your support is greatly appreciated by the Foundation.
